The second emotionally charged site in Kanchanaburi is the bridge over the River Kwai (later made famous in the movie starring Alec Guinness (but filmed in Sri Lanka)). The bridge itself suffers from our modern generation’s disassociation from history — where so many suffered, couples now posed romantically, expressing their love for one another (or at least for one another’s iPhones).
