As the Eiffel Tower is to Paris, so the above image is to Ayutthaya. Built in the late 1300’s, sometime in its past, Wat Phra Mahathat was sacked and the stone head of one of the Buddhas came to rest underneath a young bodhi tree. Several centuries later, the tree now holds the head in its protective embrace.
